KNOWING & DOING—MENGETAHUI DAN MELAKUKAN

Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered, "The Scriptures say: "No one can live only on food. People need every word that God has spoken.' "
Matius 4:4 Tetapi Yesus menjawab: "Ada tertulis: Manusia hidup bukan dari roti saja, tetapi dari setiap firman yang keluar dari mulut Allah.
Jesus was able to resist all of the devil’s temptations because he not only knew Scripture, he obeyed it. Ephesians 6:17 says that God’s word is a sword to use in spiritual combat. Knowing Bible verses is an important step in helping us resist the devil’s attacks, but we must also obey the Bible. Note that the devil had memorized Scripture, but he failed to obey it. Knowing and obeying the Bible helps us follow God’s desires rather than the devil’s.
Yesus sanggup mengalahkan pencobaan setan karena Yesus tidak hanya mengetahui Firman Tuhan saja, Dia menurutinya. Efesus 6:17 berkata bahwa Firman Allah adalah senjata rohani. Mengenal ayat-ayat Alkitab adalah sebuah langkah yang dapat menolang kita mengalahkan serangan setan, tetapi kita juga harus menuruti Alkitab. Perlu dicatat bahwa setan menghafal Firman Allah, tetapi dia gagal menurutinya. Mengetahui dan menuruti Alkitab menolong kita menuruti kerinduan Tuhan daripada menuruti kemauan setan.
